1841 Census for James and Mary James
« on: Saturday 15 November 14 14:30 GMT (UK) »
Hoping for some assistance please.

I have been trying to locate James James and his wife Mary Goldsworthy in the 1841 Census without any success to date.  :'(  Nor have I been able to locate James nor Mary's death.

James was an accountant.

James was born in 1767 in Redruth Cornwall. As yet I don't know where Mary was born nor her age nor her parents. James would be 74 in 1841 if he was still alive.

James and Mary James's children and their approx ages in 1841 were:
Mary born 1794 Bristol aged abt 47
James Moon born 1795 Bristol aged abt 46
John Polglase born 1796 Bedminster aged abt 45
Alfred born 1799 Bedminster aged abt 42
Robert Goldsworthy born Bristol aged abt 40
Theodore born Bristol aged abt 34

The only child I have been able to locate in any and all Census records bar 1841 is Theodore.

Regards

Do you know if any of them are definitely still alive in 1841 (except Theodore)?

How did you get back to the family - through Theodore?

Hello Chempat

I 'had' the family so to speak through birth records.  They were Quakers although disowned Quakers despite the fact the parents still registered the children's births.

I definitely know that James Moon died in south Australia in 1855; Robert Goldsworthy in 1881 in Scilly Isles and Theodore in 1893 in Widcombe Hill, Somerset.  In part I hoped to locate them in the Census records to help me along the paths of each child but to date other than those names above No idea what became of them.

As said previously Theodore is the only one I can locate in any census record.  There is another John Polglase James who was a Brigadier.

I have researched him and he is not the same although they are related.

A difficult one I know and I appreciate your efforts.  I had hoped new eyes may be able to find some of them.

So John Moon James might already be in Australia by 1841, as might some of his siblings?

Edit:
James Moon James.

Chempat

Yes it is possible although I haven't located any other in SA than James Moon James.  I was just rereading JMJ' 's death notice and it states his father was deceased by 1856 so will go back to Free BDM and see if I can find him again.

Mabel

I had located that record and discounted it but I have just relocated the other person of the same name and he married someone else so.... it becomes probable again.  Do you have the parents of this John Polglase James??
