"Newcastle Courant" offices?
« on: Saturday 15 November 14 19:06 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know where the Newcastle Courant had their offices and presumably their presses, in Newcastle?

I guess they might have moved once or twice as they were operating for such a long time.

That is interesting Gadget, I wonder if they sub-contracted it out. Wonder what their print run was even it was only once a week......

The Newcastle Courant was first published in 1711 as a tri-weekly publication, after a few years it settled into a regular weekly publication. The 11th February 1876 was the last issue when it was bought by the proprietors of the Newcastle Daily Journal and The North of England Farmer.

In 1711 it was printed and sold by John White at this address, wherever that was

In 1827 the Newcastle Courant (established 1st August 1711) was published by Edward Walker at 54 Pilgrim Street. In 1855 it was published by the proprietors John Blackwell & Co. at the same address.
