I have just returned from the Toon's Emporiums! (Newcastle upon Tyne's shops) No more until next year!

You have all been very busy in my absence, such a  variety of information. No-one seems to have done a history of the Courant, but the framework is here in what you have all found.

It looks as though by 1841 more than one printer was needed, possibly a much bigger print-run. Unless they just shared the work between them.

Thank you for your efforts, one and all. Just what I needed and more.....

Interesting thread - can't say I remember the Newcastle Courant (before even my time  ;)) but some of the publisher's names are familiar.
And how I miss the Toon Emporiums, especially at this time of year.
Knott - Northumberland; Yorkshire (?Bridlington.)

They've done away with those lovely yellow buses though !
