wexford lady esmonde hospital

hi, birth records of our ancestors in the late 1800s state they were born in Lady Esmonde Hospital Wexford.  I cant find any information about this hospital.  Can anyone help please?

In her will, reported 1st April 1888 in The Nursing Record Lady Esmonde left 3860 pounds to the Lying -In Hospital Wexford. Maybe this was its 'proper name.'

The link below confirms that in 1861, the Wexford town Lying-in Hospital was in the civil parish of St John's:

Griffiths Valuation (with a local print date of 1853) shows the Lying-in Hospital to be located in the townland of Townparks (civil parish of St. John's), specifically in a street called Wygram Place - you can see the immediate area by flicking between the old and new maps on the website link below (just search for Wygram Place):

This is the closest I can get in OSI's 1837-1842 mapping series, you can just about see that it's called Fitzwygram Place, Griffiths Valuation shows the immediate lessor of the property to be Sir Robt. Fitzwygram:

thank you all for information regarding lying in hospital. That's very interesting. I wouldn't have expected children of a fisherman to have been born in hospital at that time.
