« on: Sunday 16 November 14 10:35 GMT (UK) »
can anyone help with this, we have some medals in our family  from WW1? but we dont know how they came to be with us and who they were awarded to, the details i have are:

Private G Ingleton, number 93
Notts & Derbys Regiment.
Medal is Territorial Force Efficiency Medal

and

F Ramsden, 2 AM (Air Mechanic)
number 77607
Royal Flying Corps
this medal is Edward VII, so pre-1910 ?

i have had a look on Ancestry and FindMyPast and cant identify their first names so am unable to trace them...any help would be great so we can maybe get these back into their families

Private G Ingleton, number 93
Notts & Derbys Regiment
Territorial Force Efficiency Medal

This is a long service medal for 12 years in the Volunteers (or Territorial Force after they changed in 1908). The TF started at regimental number 1 again in 1908, so 93 shows that he was an established member of the Volunteers.

Added…it was awarded 1st January 1909 to 93 Private G Ingleton of the 6th Battalion Notts and Derby Regiment

He is almost certainly George Ingleton  who re-enlisted in the Notts and Derby Regiment in 1914 and given the number 7471. Born Newark in 1872.

His attestation states he had previous service in the 2nd Volunteer Battalion of the same regiment (time expired). The 2nd VB became the 6th Bn in 1908.

He was discharged in 1916 medically unfit, and awarded the Silver War Badge - http://tinyurl.com/nevtogh

He did not serve overseas during WW1 so his SWB is his only WW1 award. He applied and failed to get a pension in 1916 as his condition was due to rheumatism which he appears to have suffered from since 1893.

His ‘pension’ file is on Ancestry - http://tinyurl.com/m4txjzu

It has a lot of family information, including:
= Married Florence Ashley in 1892. Six children born Chesterfield 1903 to 1914

it was awarded 1st January 1909

That must be the Edward VII one then. It can't be the RFC one.

TNA has populated this page with information from the MIC - I suspect there's nothing much else on it https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/5242006
