finding a d.o.b ?

hi all, im trying to trace my grt grt grandfather and find out his d.o.b. his name was thomas brown and he was born in wiltshire around 1847 according to census in 1901. apart from his birth cert and marriage, how else can i trace his d.o.b? tryin to find his parents, but census have turned into a brick wall.

Only if there is any other surviving document with his dob on it.
Most likely is if he was christened and the vicar helpfully put his dob on the parish record, but more often that not they didnt.
It is too early for him to have a WW1 record with a dob, or for his death entry in the index to show a dob.

With a name like Thomas Brown you are going to have ot be extra careful you follow the right one.
Have you found him in other censuses? Have you found his marriage ? If so cert will give a fathers name for him and maybe help you find the right one in earlier censuses. But if it is a common name, eg John, you may still find numerous Thomas Browns with fathers called John. As I say, need to verify from lots of different angles to make sure you dont go off on a tangent!

these are the details of him that i have so far.......

born abt 1847 in badbury, wiltshire
address where his son was born in 1891 ( after the census)
1901 census details including his wife and children
exact date and location of his death in 1906.

i cant find any trace of his marriage :(

A tree online has it as Sarah Wyatt. They have her first marrying a William Kempton in March 1877 in Yorkshire, name transcribed as White. This would fit with eldest daughter Harriet on 1881. I cant see a Brown/Kempton marriage between 1881 and 1887.

 There's  a  Thomas  Brown    in 1847   with  mothers name  of  Ralph   in  Netheravon Sub district,

thats my tree on ancestry.
i think she married him as kempton and they changed their name to hawker for some reason.

Doesn't the birth certificate have his date of birth on it ???
