It has been passed down through our ATTRILL family that they originated from France and during the Huguenot times the family fled to England and settled on the Isle of Wight.
As their surname was so similar to the very well established Isle of Wight family of "ATTRILL", the A'TEUILL family adopted this surname as their own.

I have only been able to trace our Attrill family back as far as the latter part of the 1600's on the Isle of Wight as a separate line, but I've never then been able to link our line onto the main Attrill family tree before then and the main tree goes back to the early 1500's. This makes me think that this could be around the time that the A'teuill family did come from France to the Isle of Wight.

I am hoping that someone else is looking for information on our A'teuill family or maybe some suggestions as to where I can go for help.

Thank you for your time,  Christmack

Do you use Isle of Wight Family History Society? You could list the name separately from Atrill. I Your name would be part of the history of the Island after all

You could also try contacting the Hugenot Society to see what records they might have.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.
