Hi Phil,

i dont think you can put census images on here......copyrights and all that, i could send it to a person through their personnal email address.

Hi Lizdb,

I dont have the means to find him on the 1851 or 1841 census,  the family im hoping he's with are on the 1861 census but Betsey the wife is a Widow.
The person who found the family on the 1851 census cant find him on the 1841 census......because she cant make out the place where he was born in Worcestershire.

Caroline

I think I'm right in saying you are allowed to post a small portion of the census for study.

Preferably a bit with the name on plus a bit with similar letters, for comparison of handwriting.

Save the bit you want to post as a jpeg and use "additional options" to post it

I'm curious now

Arranroots  ;)

(OK I've been curious for a while - I'll say it before anyone else does!)  ;D

With a bit of luck this should be the census.

Unfortunately it is a bit near the edge of the page

(It is John JAMES farm labourer born ??)

For what it is worth, the transcription which I have has this place down as Pendock and I think I would agree with that, even though it looks a bit like Pendick.... ;D

Hi Gardener,

Thanks for that, i think Pendock has been suggested, it definately looks like it start with PEN....

Think im gona go with PENDOCK, although the person who sent me the image could'nt find John James bPendock on the 1841 census.

Mind you....he was probably 1 of these that had a different place of birth for each census........like a couple of my rellies !!

Hi Caroline,

I read that as Pendock spelt with an unclosed o wich looks a lot like an i but if you look close there is no dot to indicate that it should be an i - which leads me to think that the inumerator was in a hurry & if time had been taken with thier o it would have saved a great deal of trouble for you.

Al the very best
