Not surprised that West Indies service counted as enhanced service. Yellow fever wiped out large percentage of all ranks every year.

As Ken says, now that we've sorted out the pensionable service as including only 27 years and 3 months of actual service, there is no evidence that Daniel served as a boy soldier.

As cited on the other thread:  "Serjeant Daniel Polson, from Glasgow, joined the Regiment in 1813...."

Thanks for all your help in sorting out the apparent discrepancy in years of service.

PS - no under age service, and he was not at Waterloo

These references show the 69th at both Quatre Bras and Waterloo.

Is there some evidence that Polson was NOT there?
