A little help needed Trying to find the birth of a May Merricks
« on: Thursday 11 December 14 01:15 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

Trying to find the birth of a May Merricks 1907 in Birmingham.

According to the 1911 census she is there with her parents James and Esther and brother William.

I just can not see a May Merricks on Find My Past only in the census record.

Any clues on where to look or is this a middle name for her?

Looking at the Merrick(s) born between 1906 and 1908 in Warwickshire there is a Hettie May Merrick in June Qtr 1906 in Birmingham or a Lilian May Merrick in Dec Qtr 1908 in Aston.  However James and Esther are listed as Merricks when they married??

Could May be a nickname?

James and Esther married 1899 in Aston.
James was from Stafford and Esther from Birmingham.
Only one other child William Henry born 1901 also in Aston.
Certainly Merricks not Merrick, then again the surname has had a hammering with spelling mistakes over the years.

That certainly is them thank you so much.
I do not understand how we get William George instead of William Henry as on census record.  If I am correct William Henry married in 1921 to a Martha Williams.
All those male names tie in with the family not sure about Redvers though.
So Hettie is the lady I am looking for.

I will go and have a little look around FindMyPast and see if I can find any more info

Thanks again

I was thinking that myself.  I just looked at the census results again and yes William G.  Duh I really do not know where I got William Henry from :o, So back to the drawing board for the children of James and Esther.
At least I am on the right track this time ;)

Thanks everyone.  I was unable to find much more on the children William and Hettie, only a marriage for Hettie at this stage.

Electoral registers have James and Esther at 322 Newtown Row, Duddeston in 1920 and Esther and William George Redvers in 1922, 1925 and 1927
