CWGC grave but no death registration

I'm puzzled.  I've found a CWGC entry and a photo of his headstone in a Kent cemetery but am unable to find his death registration. Searched FreeBMD and other sites.

William James Murrell (b 1887) died 15 October 1916 and is buried in Frittenden, Kent.

Any ideas as to where I could find a death certificate for him?

Do you know where he died?
That is where the registration will be, even if his body was then brought back to Frittenden to his Mothers, for burial

No idea where he died, that's the problem.  I assumed it was in England as he is buried in Kent.

This looks like a hospital "batch" of deaths from Lambeth on FreeBMD, age is wrong but ....... in wartime?

Just thinking he would have been 29 and a 9 and 4 look very similar in certain handwriting so it is possible

Still unsure.....his headstone shows initials as WJ  and the Army are usually good with details.

Sorry Nanny Jan, not necessarily true, I have Army records riddled with errors as recent as 1986, including vital information like blood group. Also some of my own details are incorrect. Nothing should be taken at face value😱
