1851- census look-up - JORDIN
« on: Sunday 03 July 05 09:52 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Could someone kindly check the 1851 census for me, please, and see if you can find Eliza Emma Jordin.

She was born in Highley, Shropshire in 1842 and I'd like to find details of her family.

Many thanks,

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

A popular surname in Highley. I came across several before I found yours.
Here are the details:

Libi? Jordin, H, M, 39, farmer of 60 acres, Salop Highley
Eliza, W, M, 37, Cleobury
Elizabeth A, Daur, 11, Scholar, Highley
Eliza Emma, Daur, 9, Scholar, Highley
A***ta M, Daur, 3, Highley
Mary Adeleid?, Daur, 1, Highley
Sarah Barker?, Serv, U, 27, House serv, Highley

Sorry but some of the names are very difficult to read

Allie

Hi Allie,

Yes Jordin is common in Highley, but not surprising since they were once Lords of the Manor of Highley.

Thanks for your help, even with the unclear names I should have enough to work on for now.

Many thanks,

Adrian
