Muncaster marriage bond
« on: Friday 12 December 14 12:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I have a marriage bond for the marriage of John Ramsay and Jane Brown in 1787. I can't make out a bit of the handwriting. It looks to me to read "Jane Brown of Wholes (?) in the parish of Muncaster"
Perhaps someone with local knowledge or better eyes can enlighten me?
Thanks
John

Hi,

Could you try and put a copy of the transcription for us to try and decipher.  "Wholes" could have been the name of a house ?

There is a baptism for Jane Brown 1 st Aug 1714 to father Thomas Brown. Perhaps a little early for your Jane ?

Hole House is in the parish of Ulpha, not Muncaster http://maps.nls.uk/view/101100734#zoom=5&lat=2828&lon=1658&layers=BT
