Derby: Martin McCORMICK, Death 1858
« on: Sunday 14 December 14 11:16 GMT (UK) »
The England & Wales, FreeBMD Death Index 1837-1915 , courtesy of Ancestry, indicates the death of a Martin McCORMICK in the second quarter of 1858.   Can anyone confirm whether this would be the FATHER born 1791 in Ireland or the SON born in Derby St. Michael c1839......wife/mother Margrett.

Despite fairly extensive research I can find no reference to either father or son after 1858!!

Thank You,

BAC3

Two things:

1.  There's an entry on the Derby Criminal Registers for 1852 for a Martin McCormick.  Transported for 7 years for stealing a pair of overshoes.

2.  There's a transcription from the Derbyshire Registrar's Death Index for a burial in 1858 in Derby of a Martin McCormick.  Gives his age as 59, so a YOB of 1799.

So, could 1 be the son and 2 the father?

Thank you STG,

You have kindly resolved the death question, leaving the son very much alive in 1858 after his release from Portland Prison on 30/08/1856.    Whatever happened to him afterwards remains a mystery sadly!! :-\
