GODFREY or BALDWIN?
« on: Sunday 03 July 05 15:57 BST (UK) »
Have posted this in Northumberland as well, but since Newcastle used to Co. Durham I think, will post it here also - Henry Godfrey Baldwin and Mary Ann Cranfield were married in 1881 and lived in Erith, Kent.  At some point before the 1901 census they went to Newcastle and the family name was changed to Godfrey.  In that census Mary is listed in All Saints Parish with 8 children and Henry was in Lynesack & Softley as a joiner.  As far as I know the name Godfrey continued from that time on. Henry may have later left and gone to Australia without the family.   Most children stayed "up north" - Hnery (Boy), Fred, Frank, Ella, Norman, Harry and Will.  Three girls went "down south" - Mabel, Ethel and Nora.  Anyone have any knowledge of this family?
Baldwin - Kent; Godfrey - Newcastle; White, Thompsett, Oyler - Sussex; Cornock - Glos.;
