I was baptised in infancy into the faith of my family.

Being baptised again into a different faith in adulthood at complete strangers' behest and without my agreement is a completely different thing.

Just checked and my birth registratio0n is there, but they've wrongly transcribed my mum's maiden name. I know from past searching that it's also listed on Ancestry and FreeBMD, and the Ancestry entry has the wrong county of birth, FreeBmd is correct though.

Retriever, as far as I can see the results you have seen are taken from official records and are there for research purposes, it's not a list of people who the LDS have baptised anymore than the same results would be on Ancestry/FreeBMD/Find My Past.

My marriage and 2 eldest's births are on FS, my birth and my youngest child's are not because we were both born in Scotland.  As for baptism  ;D I'm a devout atheist  :D ;D ;D ;)

Only if you think that a religious ceremony you don't believe in can have some effect but that doesn't make much sense, does it?

On second thoughts this is not good if they add Scotland data  :-\ my half sister was reared as my full sister and "used" my father's name although her real dad signed as father.  Her children and now grandchildren don't know about her dad  :-[ - I only know because I did the research at GRO in Edinburgh. The ramifications of living folks secrets no longer being secret are/could be quite scarey.

Whether it does or does not have any effect is neither here nor there.

The fact it may have been done (as I said I haven't checked) without my knowledge/permission is what I don't agree with.

Perhaps we should agree to disagree on this.

Mormons do not baptise living people into their church.

But the Anglican Church do!
I am very much against ANY baptism that the person concerned hasn't chosen for themselves. :(

My 36 year old daughters have never been baptised - that is their personal decision.

I've also found a wrongly transcribed maiden name; contacted FamilySearch who have agreed it needs correction and are now organising for that to be done.    :)

Yes, that was my point.  What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
