Nottingham: William GLAZEBROOK
« on: Saturday 03 January 15 21:52 GMT (UK) »
Happy New Year,

William GLAZEBROOK was born in June 1844, the son of Cecil Thomas GLAZEBROOK and his wife, Mary Ann (nee BURTON), and had 3 brothers John (b1841), George (1846), Charles (1853) and a sister Eliza (1849).   He spent some little time imprisoned at Parkhurst Prison 06/1856 to 06/1857 for a year and 06/1858 to 01/1862 (released early on licence).    He appears in the 1861 Census against the initials "WG" imprisoned at Wootton, Hampshire (Parkhurst!!).

He then seems to vanish.......could someone please help in tracing him.   Any details, no matter how small or insignificant, would be very welcome.

Sincerely

BAC3

Good Morning Dawn,

I have tried all the "suspect" areas, LDS , Google, Public Member Trees, etc., but absolutely nothing.   Could have emigrated I suppose?

Sincerely,

Looking at the 1851 census, there is a Glazebrook family where the children match yours, in Basford, but the parents names are different

Samuel Glazebrook age 34 b Hoveringham
Ann 29 b Lowdham
John age 11, William 6, George 4, (all born Nottingham) Eliza 2 (b Ollerton)

Is this your family?

Hello Annie65115,

Thank you for responding but the 1851 Census under the name Samuel Glazebrook, wife Ann, is possibly the same one I quoted, for you will note in brackets under his name are the words (Cecil Thomas).....these are not on the original document of course.

I am afraid it is all a bit confusing, especially as the new Ancestry system, at least to me anyway, is a "hotch potch" and certainly does not present information with anything that represents a logical approach or the clear comprehensiveness of the "old system".   Possibly I am getting old!!!!!

Sincerely

As Annie pointed out the 1851 census- actual image on Ancestry has Samuel and Ann Glazebrook. With childrens names and ages as you quote above. I am not sure what you mean by Cecil Thomas being in brackets under his name, it is certainly not showing on the census image.  OK now I see. ::) a member has submitted the Cecil Thomas.
There is a Cecil Glazebrook baptised in Hoveringham 5-2-1815 with parents Richard and Hannah father a FWK. No Thomas mentioned though.
Baptism 1-4-1844 William son of SISERA and Ann Glazebrook  father a FWK abode Island St Nottingham St Mary.

Thank you for trying to resolve his biography.   I am extremely grateful.

I have looked at the areas where he committed his crimes, Sneinton and Radford, and thought  they might produce some useful leads, but nothing sadly, even adding variables such as GLAIZEBROOK and GLASABROOK.

William GLAZEBROOK may have to remain "unsung"!!!
