Hi

I am looking for 3 ancestor siblings, I have had a good look but wonder if a fresh pair of eyes may help and I will be grateful for any help recieved.

Richard Taylor born c1829 in Saffron Walden son of Allen Taylor and Rebecca Taylor formerly Coe. He is on the 1841 census in Saffron Walden with parents and several siblings. Allen Snr was from Wimbish originally, just down the road from Saffron Walden. I cannot find any trace of Richard after 1841. His mother died in October that year aged 40.

Same with Charlotte Taylor born c1831 in Saffron Walden, she is on the 1841 census of Saffron Walden aged 10. No trace of her after that.

And Allen Taylor, Richard and Charlotte's brother, born in 1837 in Wimbish, he is on the 1851 census at the High Street, Harston, Cambridgeshire, UK, still living with his father Allen, 60, Labourer.

Allen is on the 1861 census aged 24, born Wimbish, Essex, living at the Stow Fox, Bourn, Cambridgeshire, a brickmaker, and still unmarried, living with his father Allen, 70 and 2 others listed as grandsons Joseph,16 and Benjamin, 12. After that he vanishes.

He did have a cousin called Allen who wed in 1870 in Saffron Walden aged 17 and I have that cert which disproves him as a marriage of the Allen I mentioned.

I wonder what did ever happen to Richard born 1829, Charlotte born 1831 and Allen born 1837? Any help would be gratefully recieved?

There is a record of an Allen Taylor marrying in 1870 in Saffron Walden

Thanks, I already have that 1870 cert, that Allen was 17 years old in 1870 who wed someone of the same age, 17. Not the same Allen, I think he was a cousin or something.

I often wonder if they did emigrate or something. Seems a possibility.

You've probably already seen this but there is a death for a Richard Taylor in 1859 in Saffron Walden. It doesn't give date of birth so we won't know for sure unless you buy the certificate

Found rebecca the mother's death in Saffron Walden 3/4/1841 aged 30. Also Ellen who was one month old in 1841 census buried 6/1/1842 aged 10 months.
No sign of the other three yet.
Assume you've got allen's birth?

Hi

Yes Allen was born in 1837. I think that 1859 death for Richard was another Richard Taylor as one was buried in Wimbish aged 60 in 1859 and Wimbish is in Walden district.

I am considering the possibility they emigrated. I have looked on SEAX through Saffron Walden parish minutes and in 1849 there was a scheme for the poor of the town to emigrate. I wonder if Richard and Charlotte did that as they were 20 and 18 by then. It will be tougher seeing if they did emigrate with a name like Taylor, there are some Richard Taylor's in the US and Canada 1850 onwards born 1825-1835 in England. Then maybe Allen emigrated after 1861 and before 1871.

Seeing as no one else on here has found them in England they may have gone abroad. The plot thickens.

Ben

Hi. I meant Allen senior.
He was baptised alongside three siblings: mary, Susanna, Ann. Parents Richard and mary. Baptism 13/2/1803 wimbish.
Definitely starting to sound like they went abroad. Looked for a marriage for Charlotte to no avail.
Do any of the children appear in any PRs or censuses after 1861?
