Thomas Mugg in London
« on: Wednesday 21 January 15 04:14 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information about Thomas Mugg, formerly of Newton Abbott, Devon.  He emigrated to South Australia in 1838/9 after some years resident in London.  I have no record of his marriage to Elizabeth Woolacott, or anything about her.  Their children were christened in London, mostly at St. Pancras Old Church (between 1823 and 1836), and the family lived at Regent's Park before emigration from Deptford.
The Mugg family are easily found for generations in Newton Abbott, but those 'mystery years' in London I would love to find out about.
Thanks for any assistance.

Thomas married Elizabeth Woollacott 31 Jul 1816 at St George, Bloomsbury. They were both of the parish and married after banns and both signed the register.  Winesses were William Pritchard and John Harrison. John Harrison appears as witness on other marriages so probably a church 'employee'

Hi Rebecca welcome to rootschat. Lois W has not been on line since her original post, you need to have three posts before you can contact her through the private message system. Just post a reply to this message and then one more after that and then you will be ok.
Good luck.

Thanks to all the assistance here.  I have added to my family tree, and have many avenues now to explore.  I have appreciated the detailed information, especially the 'abode' which shows where the family was living at various times.
Thank you, Rebecca, for the Adelaide contact.
Lois

Hi, I realise that your post was some years ago, I just came across it when googling Thomas Mugg. If you still need it I have a small amount of information for example he and Elizabeth were married at St George's Church, Bloomsbury on 31 Jul 1816.
Regards, Sue.
