Hi can someone please help , my great grand aunt Isabella Jane Macleod born 1878 in inverness had a daughter out of wedlock in 1897  , I believe her name was Jean or Jane Macleod but cannot find any records to confirm this , any information would be much appreciated ... kind regards Edward...

Is Isabella on the 1901 census, living with her sister Elizabeth McDonald, at Mid Street, Inverness?  No child with her.

There are 2 Jane M*cLeod's born Invernessshire in 1897:
Jane Anne b. Kirkhill
Elizabeth Jane, b. Inverness

You could view them on Scotlands People to check if either are a daughter to Isabella.

1901 census has an Eliza Jane McLeod, b. 1897, Invernessshire. Adopted daughter to Alexander and Janet  Johnstone, Tap Lane, Inverness

Given my 1901 find, I checked the Elizabeth Jane 1897 birth.  I think she is the one. Illegitimate. Mother Isabella McLeod, domestic servant, 6 Tap Lane.
