Toone family
« on: Wednesday 28 January 15 13:05 GMT (UK) »
Edward toone lived in ashby de la zouch he was married to a mary ? And had 4 children thomas , sarah , ann , Joseph .  I think Edward died around 1836 his widow then married a william newbry or newberry . I got completly mixed up at first with the toones from hickley but I don't think they are connected .

The reason I thunk Edward died is mary was found in the  1841 census with william newbry with her three  youngest children then a john toone suddenly appears ! Confused ... Any help finding Edwards date of death and who was john ? I can't find a record of him anyway .

Thanks for reading this

G

Just to clarify how old is Mary in 1841 and is she under the surname Toone or Newbry?

Can't see the 1841 but is this the family in 1851?

William Newbry 54
Mary Newbry 52
Sarah Toone 24
Francis Newbry 10
William Newbry 8
Frederick Toone 1

Can't see a marriage for William & Mary.

There's an Edward Toone , 38 , sentenced at the Leicester Sessions to 6 months for larceny in 1841, but could well be the wrong Edward Toone.

Thanks just found it.

So I wonder who little John belonged to?  Could be a grandchild from the oldest Toone child perhaps.

There's a John Toone born Ashby de la Zouch but that was Mar 1838.
And a death in Jun 1844 but don't know if the same child.

Hi, thanks for that , I wonder if it was my Edward toone that was sentenced but if he did go to prison Mary couldn't have re married . I can't actually find a marriage entry for Mary and William Newbry/ newberry but she's hasn't put toone on the census .

I don't think little John could be a child from an older an older slibbing , again i can't find the marriage entry for Edward toone and Mary its all a right mess !

Thanks again

It's possible William & Mary never actually married but lived as a "couple" especially if Edward was still around.  Happened in them days too!
