Looking for parents of James Harries, b1819 Milford Haven
« on: Saturday 31 January 15 15:06 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the parents and any siblings of James Harries born (according to 1851 census) in 1819 at Milford Haven.  By 1851 he had married a lady called Anne and moved to Dowlais, her birth town.  His occupation on the census is Navigator.
I have only recently started the hobby of genealogy, at least I thought it would be a hobby (it is fast becoming an obsession) and any information would be most appreciated.  Also if any one can suggest any useful sites where i can gather information that also would be welcome.
Thank you.
Harries

Hi

The 1861 gives a birthyear of 1816 and a birthplace of Dowlais for James and the 1871 shows 1815 Pembroke.  1881 has Pembroke 1818

The births of their first 2 children were not registered (Sarah & James)

You need a copy of one of their childrens birth certs to confirm Ann's maiden name so your best bet is

Births December qtr 1857
Daniel Benjamin   Harries    Merthyr Tydfil    11a   285

If her maiden name was Edwards - you then need to buy a copy of the 1841 marriage cert to establish James fathers name and occupation as there are several James Harries born Pembrokeshire in the timescale on Family Search

Milford Haven was in the parish of Steynton. There is a baptism for a James Harries 19 May 1818 in Steynton, but that child was buried 30 Oct 1818
