Hi Pat,
She looks wonderful it makes such a difference when you can add a photo such as that one. Jessie Cochrane is part of my Russell branch (branches in my name interests).  I've completed (I know you never complete a family history ;)) my Fraser branch but they stayed put and married around the doors and I was ruthless in sticking to the direct line only - the best bits are the fabulous photos of my gran. The Russells are a different kettle of fish - more wild stories! When I look at my huge folders of documents I think who in their right mind is going to sit down with that lot but maybe they'll take the time to read what I have written and look at the pictures! Must admit my best friend at the moment is the 'Snipping Tool'  ;D

Pat,
Thought you might like to see your work in situ- a huge improvement over what I had.

What program are you using to record your information? It looks great.

Hi Nettie,
Thanks, I'm very low tech...for my writing up I use the wordprocesser in OpenOffice 4.1 (free to download) and the Snipping Tool that come free with Windows. I use this to grab 'bits' (photos, maps, newspaper articles, sections of certificates, census returns, shipping manifests, wills, war records etc.)  that I want to use in my writing - it's quick and dirty but it works for me.

I use the spreadsheet in Openoffice to keep records one template for a pedigree chart - obviously only one of these and one template for family groups - every couple in my direct line has one of these. All my records are on my computer but they are also mirrored in paper form- I work from paper :)

Hi Jen...I have just noticed you have your posting marked completed, as I have spent time on your fabulous photo I didn't want to send it to the waste paper basket so I am posting it.

Carolyn,
In France when you have a fabulous hairdresser you say they have the fingers of fairies.  You too have 'Les doigts de fées' this is beautiful- one for the frame I think!  The time you have taken to do this is very much appreciated.
