Yes Rolnora I found that too, so it seems he was born before Clara's marriage to Wm Chas Eastwood.
Still doesn't explain the curious case of Evans though?

Hello again,
I don't think there is a curious case. Presumably, William Eastwood and Clara separated. If there was no divorce, he married bigamously, whilst Clara pretended to be married to Mr Evans.
In such cases, you will often find a late marriage when the spouse dies, leaving the other free to marry.

Hello Heywood, seems to me they both married bigamously, as Wm didn't die until 1934!

Well I found a death for Wm C Eastwood but it could be a different one?

William C Eastwood, died Oct-Dec 1934, Brighton Sussex aged 78. That gives a birth year of about 1856 which would be about right for your man.

William Charles would be around 58 at the outbreak of WW1. I very much doubt he would have been accepted on any form of active service, even when they got desperate for men later on. I think the 1934 death is still a good bet.
