Please help

I am looking for information on Thomas Oliver father to Elizabeth Oliver.  When elizabeth (age at time of marriage was 20) was married in 1884 their residence at the time was Graigwen cottage.  The marriage took place in the parish of Llansillin. I have tried looking for this cottage on the census but have had no luck.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Hi,

I've found Elizabeth in the 1881 census, working as a servant in the house of a Willam Morris in Whittington Shropshire (Ref: RG11/2260 Folio 98 Page 2).  Her birth place is recorded as Denbeighshire,  Llansillin so you probably need to look at the census for Wales to find the cottage.

I think I may have found her in the 1871 census (RG10/2780 Folio 65 Page 22):

Thomas Oliver, Head, 28, Ag Lab. b. Oswestry, Salop
Catherine Oliver, Wife, 28, b. Oswestry, Salop
Elizabeth Oliver, Dau, 6, b. Llan?? (Unreadable)
Thomas Oliver, Son, 4, b, Llanisten, Denbeigh
John F Oliver, Son, 2, b. Oswestry
