Please can someone put a date on this one

I have had a number of photos sent to me by a family member. Here is the first of them we have been told its of my Granddad John William Martin b 1908 in Dudley, Staffordshire but not which one he is. Thank you in advance.

I would say that John would be the boy if he was born in 1908.  Possibly looks to be about 3 years old, so photo may have been taken about 1911 which looks about right.

Older man - possibly old enough to be his grandfather - maybe 70 or so age wise - so born 1840ish. Does that fit it with any ancestors in this branch of your tree?

This is just a guess though.

thank you I should have put 1907 for John William - his Grandfather also John Martin was b in 1844 in Dudley and WOW ty I thought his father but now its blown up can see he is older.

That seems to fit fairly well date wise then.

I suppose it depends on how old John William's father was when he was born in 1907 - the older man could be his father. To me he looks like a grandfather though. 

Wait till you get a second opinion because I would hate to put you on the wrong track.

Thank you John Williams father John Edward was b in 1872 in Dudley. I am wondering now where it was took as it looks like rocks behind them.

Yes I would say the dates are about right for the little boy.
