Lookup. Please help

I am looking for any information on David Jones b 1817 montgomeryshire and his wife Jane b 1821 in salop.  I have found them on the 1881 census living in America cottage, Llansillin.  I am related to their son William Thomas Jones who married Elizabeth oliver in 1884.  Their address is still America cottage. I do not know any other information about this family

Jane – Wife – Mar – 42 – Ag. Lab’s Wife – b. Salop, Selattyn
Jane – Daur – 5 – b. Denbigh, Llansilin
Edward – Son – 3 – b. Denbigh, Llansilin

I note that the next house is called ‘America’ and is occupied by Thomas Ellis and family.



1871 Census – Wales

Ref: RG10/2779/10 Page 9
Address: Pentre Cwm, Llansilin (Pentre Cwm is my best guess – it’s not that clear)

David – Head – Mar – 55 – Ag. Lab – b. Montgomery, Penybont
Jane – Wife – Mar – 51 – Ag. Lab’s Wife – b. Denbigh, Chirk
Edward – Son – 12 – Scholar – b. Denbigh, Llansilin
Thomas – Son – 9 – b. Denbigh, Llansilin

Someone was a bit lazy and originally had all this family as been born, Denbigh, Llansilin. This was crossed out and the new information added.

I assume this is the right family - nothing straight forward in genealogy.

This is from the 1851 census:

David Jones, H, M, 34,  Farmers labourer, Montgomery Fleirnant???
Jane, W, M, 31, Denbigh Chirk
Mary, Daur, 8, Llansilin
Elizabeth, Daur, 5, Llansilin
David, Son, 2, Llansilin

The address bit has been cropped but the last 4 letters are rica so I am sure it is America.
As John said before the house next door is also called the same but in 1851 it is occupied by another Jones family.

Let me know if you want the details of that family too as they were also from Montgomery
