Marriage Oxford St Giles 1800
« on: Friday 27 February 15 12:53 GMT (UK) »
A few years ago, someone was kind enough to check the Oxfordshire marriage index and found me this:

Richard Wharton (Lodger) married Charlotte Cox 5th May 1800 at Ox St. Giles.

Could anyone check the St Giles reigsters for full information: marital status, witnesses.
I suspect Richard is a widow, I'm not sure about Charlotte.

Many many thanks
 :)

Hi decor, long time no speak!

From OFHS CD OX02 – St Giles PRs (marriages):

1800 May 5
WHARTON  X   Richard      widr.   lodger
COX   X      Charlotte   sp.  o.t.p.   (Banns:   b.o.t.p.)
Wit:  Ann COX, Charles CRAPPER, E.P.

Occupations and fathers’ names/occupations were not usually recorded at that time.

Hope this helps,

I don't suppose anyone can look for a baptism for Charlotte Cox?

According to the 1851 census, born around 1775 in Oxford St Peter, but could be another parish in the city.

 :)
Happy weekend people  :)

Me again ;D

No baptism for Charlotte at St Peter in the East between 1760 and 1800.

There is this one at St Peter le Bailey:

1780 May 24
COX   Charlote   d. Thomas & Elizabeth

Spelling as per OFHS CD OX03.

Long weekend where I live – Western Australian Labour Day on Monday – makes little difference to us non-workers though ::)
