Well, you will need the birth cert to get the exact date of birth.
So, you can either go round in circles, or bite the bullet and get that Halstead birth cert. All in all it looks very likely. If the birth date ties up, then you will have her parents names. If it doesn't, then that obvious one will be ruled out. But unless that one is ruled out, then you will keep coming back to it as being the most likely, but will never know whether to look elsewhere or not!
One cert - and it could all be sorted!
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Message from GRO saying b/c not found. Either date of birth is not as on the embroidery or place of birth not Halstead but only registered there. Have applied for a new certificate only specifying date of birth and name, place of birth anywhere in England.

Halstead is the registration district for the one that we found in the index.

Best just to apply for that cert, no provisos, no date of birth etc, just give the reference from the index. Then you will get the cert that that index entry relates to, and can see what details it has on it.

Not sure what will happen with your new application, presumably they will do a search of the indexes for a few years and come up with the Halstead one as the only possible.....?

b/c States Sarah's father was John Cole, servant. He was in Halstead in census 1841, age 15. He married a Sarah and moved away to Clare then Colchester see census's. Richard stayed in Halstead, by 1851 Ann died and Richard's brother died, brothers wife and child staying as lodgers. Later they married and had more children.
One thing I would like to know, after having Sarah with John Cole did Ann go back to Richard and have Ann born c 1844. As in 1851 census.

On Sarah's b/c did it give a maiden name for her mother Ann?
Who was the informant and what address was given?

If it is Essex, then there is only one possible birth that I can see:

Oct/Nov/Dec 1842 Halstead
ref 12 102
Sarah Wells

There's also this birth entry on FreeBMD with the same reference numbers

Oct/Nov/Dec 1842 Halstead
ref 12 102
Sarah COLE

Difficult to say but it looks as if Ann was christened in 7 April 1852 Halstead parents named as Richard & Ann (see reply 7), along with her brothers James & William which is after her mother Ann's death in 1850

You would probably need her b/c to confirm her father is named as Richard

Dec 1843 Halstead Ann Wells (FreeBMD)
