Elizabeth Ann Raffayter
« on: Tuesday 03 March 15 12:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I would appreciate a lookup of the marriage details of the above.. She married Thomas Stones in Wolverhampton in 1866, afraid I don't know the name of the church. What I would like is her fathers /mothers name and any addresses.
Many thanks in advance
Pete

Hi Pete,

Not sure how much research you've done but on the 1881 census:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X3VQ-NPJ

I guess that the grandchild with this couple is the son of your STONES?

This looks like their marriage:
Marriages Dec 1849
Badderley Thomas and Rafferday Jane in Wolverhampton

In 1851 Thomas and Jane seem to have an Elizabeth JAM*SON age 3 with them listed as a daughter. The preceding family on the census are also JAM*SONs. Can't quite work out if Jane is their daughter or not? ???

I think you're going to have to order a few certs!

Hi

Having searched the censuses and birth's I can find no trace of a Raffayter anywhere. Do you by any chance have the Marriage Cert., I think that her name has been miss transcribed by whoever did the marriage details.
Getting the marriage cert would give you her Fathers name and the correct spelling of her name.

MaureeninNY and genechaser,
Hi
Thanks for your replies. Maureen I think that's the wrong marriage. My groom is Thomas Stones.
genechaser. I think you are right about the name transcription. Like you I have not been able to find a birth. I'm guessing that it may be something like Rafferty that has been wrongly transcribed. I was hopi9ng to get some info from the marriage record.

Regards
Pete

Pete,

I meant that the BADDERLEY/RAFFERDAY marriage was likely to be that of the people who are described as grandparents to John T STONES in 1881!

Your best move then is to get a copy of the marriage cert. Can be ordered online from www.gro.gov.uk, using the ref from the gro index.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex
