Robert Cornwell died 1790 West Thurrock. "Born 1725". Looking for baptism...

As stated in the subject, Robert died 1790 and was buried with his wife, Ruth. He was "aged 65" when he died and left a substantial will. He was a yeoman, church warden etc. and owned, for a time, Home Farm.

But I can't find a baptism for him! He would have been baptised c1725, likely in West Thurrock.

His children's names were Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, Robert, Ann and William if that helps anyone find a parentage for him!

I don't know where you have been looking, but Essex PRs are online at the SEAX site (googling will find) , for a small subscription, if you didn't already know.

Another angle that may be worth pursuing is to look for other Cornwall Wills in the area. If Robert was a landowner, the chances are his father was too, and he may appear as a beneficiary on his fathers Will.

Is "Robert sen" the Robert born circa 1725 and "Robert jun" the Robert listed among the 4 children you mention OR is "Robert jun" the Robert born circa 1725 and "Robert sen" his father?

Would the Robert listed among the 4 children be qualified to be included in the '68 poll?

Great stuff, thank you! Roberts children, all born at South Ockenden were born between 1752 and 1768. Robert himself was born in 1763 so it would appear that Robert Sr is my Roberts Dad, and my Robert is in Stisted. Thank you!

Robert Snr married Ruth Clarke "out of the parish" in September last 1751; so is written in the South Ockendon PR. Unfortunately it does not say where they married.

Thanks! That's actually Robert Junior, though. Not sure who Robert Senior married, but he died in 1794. Just found his will and it mentions sons william and Robert...

That would be Robert Jr Jr! The first Robert must be born around 1700 and dies 1794. His son Robert is born around 1725 and then his son Robert is born 1763. It is the first two who the helpful poster found on the 1768 electoral roll.
