I read the will this morning in NRO, but sorry no child named Jeremiah.

Very standard will ... estate to be invested, interest to wife Elizabeth during her life, after her death (and this bit very specific) to be divided equally into six parts, one part for each of his six children - Elizabeth Redfern, Robert Hardy, Sarah Hardy, Rebecca Hardy, Mary Hardy, and William Hardy.
Wife and son Robert to be execs. Sub £200.
Written 20 Jan 1829, proved 24 Feb 1829.

Thanks so much for having a look for me, I guess it's back to the drawing board on this one.

I guess it's back to the drawing board on this one.

Not necessarily ...

From the Soke of Peterborough Marriages Index ...

Jeremiah Hardy of Glinton = Elizabeth Brown otp 1799 Dec 30 Maxey

Elizabeth Hardy = William Redfern botp 1826 Jun 8 Castor License

Jeremiah Hardy = Eleanor Yarwood botp 1828 Nov 26 P'bro St John
Rebecca Hardy = Robert Garratt botp 1828 Nov 26 P'bro St John

Mary Hardy = George Smith botp 1829 Oct 20 Glinton License

Sarah Hardy otp = John Stanger of P'bro St John 1829 Nov 27 Castor

William Hardy = Mary Howitt botp 1831 Nov 1 Eye License

If you have these, then I see why you might be puzzled, but if Jeremiah was the eldest son (I didn't spot him in the bpt regs on Wednesday, just Robert 1801, Sarah 1803, Rebecca 1806) then he may simply have received monetary help from his father previously and was therefore left out of the will.
If you've not got these, I hope they help.

I think it too much of a coincidence that Jeremiah and Rebecca should marry on the same day in the same church.

Ooh that's really interesting Sugarbakers  - I didn't know about the marriage of Rebecca on the same day.  Looking at the marriage details of Jeremiah Sr and Elizabeth being on 30 Dec 1799, Jeremiah Jr is sometimes listed as being born in 1799 - I wonder if he was baptised as Brown if he was born before the marriage.

I will certainly pencil in the others though!

Oops, sorry, forgot to say thanks.

The witnesses to the two marriages might be interesting.

Sorry, but the Soke baptisms are not included on the Northamptonshire Indexes, so no instant check for Jeremiah Brown.

... both need checking at NRO.

... and therefore maybe in Maxey.

NRO today ...

P'bro St John -

No Hardy names as witnesses to the two marriages. George Yarwood and Abraham Garratt, each along with Benjamin Richardson whom I assumed to be a clerk or church warden or ?
The only connection (until later in the research) is that they are adjacent marriages in the register.

Maxey -

No Jeremiah bpt, however this one makes sense ...
Elizabeth Hardy Brown d/o Elizabeth Brown bpt 16 Dec 1799 bast'd

Castor -

Checked for Hardy, though only a marriage of a Thomas Hardy late of Sutton, which pointed me to ...

Sutton by Castor -

(The registers were damaged early 19thC and a partial transcription was done by the curate in 1848, however a more recent transcription gives us good information, though the regs only go back to 1763 bpt, 1758 mar, 1788 bur, with BTs to 1800.)

Jeremiah Hardy s/o William & Mary bpt 1802 Oct 24
William Hardy = Mary Hodgkin 1791 Jul 7
Jeremiah Hardy s/o William & Rebecca bpt 1776 Oct 20
William Hardy s/o William & Rebecca bpt 1763 Oct 3
William Hardy = Rebecca Featherstone 1761 Apr 12

So the two who married in P'bro St John were cousins.

Will PM you with the full list of Hardy names from Sutton asap.

Thanks again for all the time and effort you have put into this for me - Jeremiah has been one of my major brick walls for a number of years, so all this information is absolutely wonderful, and gives me so much more to fill in and research.
