101st birthday
« on: Sunday 08 March 15 12:56 GMT (UK) »
My cousin (2 removed) is about to celebrate his 101 birthday :)

and I have been attempting to sort his paternal side :)  -- these people are not my relations, so I have been a little 'tardy'!! until now.

the last 24 hours, I have spasmodically looked into them - with little success... :(

So what I have is:

My cousin Wilfred C Vears born 21st March 1914.
HIS Father is - George Vears - born  1882 Leicester.
So looking at the census returns for 1891 and 1901 it seems he is with his Grandmother..
Eliza Jelley.    No mention of parents.. but I have a lovely pic of Wilfs Paternal Grandmother - so would love to try and sort them out.
In the 1901 there is a bunch of family living together, seemingly Eliza's children and granchildren...plus one great grandchild... another interesting lot.

So I would like to find Georges parents and if no success this way - will of course send for the cert later today.
then I would like to find Eliza Jelley and her husband (no sign in these two census' )

thanks in anticipation,

:)

xin

Given age of oldest Vears grandchild in the 1891 census, this may be the Vear's kids parents marriage ?

Marriages Jun 1869

BUNNEY  William    Leicester  7a 285
Jelley  Elizabeth     Leicester  7a 285
Smith  Julia     Leicester  7a 285
Vears  Charles     Leicester  7a 285

So need to check back in the 1861 Census if Granny Eliza c1832 Leicester (from 1891) had a daur Elizabeth ...

1891 there is  grandchild Florence m Vears b. c. 1865 Leicester

1881 she is with Grandmother Eliza Jelly -and Gt Grandfather Thomas Jelley and her parents Charles Vears and Elizabeth (nee Jelley)

I think Charles vears died and Elizabeth married Henry F P Baines - Elizabeth and husband are living with Eliza Jelley in 1901-along with vears children and Baines children

will look up some dates for you

Looks good - the oldest Vears Grandaur from 1891 (Florence M) is with Charles & Elizabeth in 1871 Leicester ...... but I havent found direct evidence of Elizabeth being Eliza's daughter   ....

ah ref Suzards info - seems to clinch it, I was working forward to 1881 !

Just had a look at the 1901 census that you have it says George Vears b 1882 Grandson and lists his mother as Elizabeth Baines
