Oh Yes  -- that has reminded me - he said he wanted to live as long as her, last time I spoke to him  :)

He is a lovely chap.

(I cannot find the pic of the headstone, I know I have it somewhere... (argh)....

the thing is.. I remember it having Georges Name and I think it has the Mothers Sylvia Blanche... BUT  I know there is a space left for Wilf's name... and I often wonder - if this has been arranged to have filled in or - ???? what will happen... uuuhm.   Not sure if it has George snrs name on that is why I wanted to find it..  typical bad filing again.

WOW

I know we all moan about 'TREES' on ancestry - but I always pop and see what they have....

I have just found the most wonderful pic of Eliza Jelly aged 101 in Hospital and shows we have the
correct lady due to the names listed.. wow... thats someone to get in touch with.

:)

Atempting to get this Document finished in time for my visit Fri..... and panicking..
Certs are taking an age to get here...

I CANNOT find the exact birth of Elizabeth Jelley --- she was born circa 1852 when working on
census returns and death notice.. But there are 4 to choose from around that date..

I have searched for Baptism, but she was illegitimate...

SO just wondered if anyone had any 'Bastardy Bonds' for Leicester or where to see if I can find more info on her.

She is the daughter of Eliza... but Eliza also had a sister called Elizabeth (how crazy) so it is easy to confuse them... they are in the 1861 together.   And the 1851 almost illegible census return shows Eliza and Elizabeth with siblings and parents...  Thomas and Mary.
Also the fantastic Settlement document gives information regarding Eliza.

But I really would like a better notification of Elizabeths birth... Cannot send for 4 and get them back in time, never mind the cost.  :)  happy days :) :)

In the 1861 and 1891 censuses, Elizabeth's yob was given as (around) 1854. In 1881 it was given as 1853, and in 1871 and on the burial details it was suggested as 1852. I can't see her in 1901/11!

So in order from the censuses 1861-1891 and her death, we have 1854; 1852; 1853; 1854; 1852

Remember the burial details will be what someone else told the registrar. I'd be inclined to think that the earlier details might be more correct - fewer years to lose track of!

So these are your likely choices:
Births Mar 1851
Jelley    Elizabeth        Leicester    15   114
Births Jun 1851
Jelley    Elizabeth         Leicester    15   140
probably too soon. Would a 10 year old really be called 7 in the 1861 census? There is 1 burial in Jan 1859 of an Elizabeth Jelley age 7 from Charles St and the same family were still living in Charles St through the 1860s - so not yours.

Births Jun 1854
Jelley    Elizabeth         Leicester    7a   201    - "definite possible"

JELLEY    Elizabeth Ann         Leicester    7a   201     never seen Ann associated with name, and there is a different Elizabeth A Jelley 1855 with her family in the 1871 census.

Births Dec 1854
Jelley    Elizabeth         Leicester    7a   172    --- "definite possible"

Births Jun 1855
Jelley    Eliza         Leicester    7a   194   ---- later than any other suggestion, and there is an 1855//6 Elizabeth Jelley with another family on the censuses

so I think she was likely to be one of those 2 that I've bolded (but of course this is still structured guesswork!)

Don't know that that helps much --
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)
Holyland (Anywhere and everywhere, also Holiland Holliland Hollyland)
Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)

mind you, if she was b 1854 she would only have been 15 when she married Charles (or even 14 if she was the later 1854 baby!!)

Thank you Annie, really appreciated... Will study in depth in a mo.

Had a disaster with my Word Prog today it decided to corrupt itself halfway through my document..... aaaargh.   Luckily I had saved it to dropbox, so I didnt loose too much.
But what it did do - was push me to use the laptop that has been in its box brand new
for weeks - cos I was terrified to tackle all the updates..... of Win 8 etc... I do like my Win 7

But am having a go...

Everything now on Dropbox... for easy transfer when I have got the hang of Win 8...

phew...

really appreciate your help

Yes I discounted the Elizabeth Ann today for some reason - I think it was area born and I maybe found her parents names... didnt fit.
Cos I have Thomas and Mary Ann Allsop as parents for her.

so Yes it must be one of those two... no use just sending for one cert, cos it will be the wrong one...... so I will send ... a request to check parents ... with order and see what happens.
It does take a while - that way, but saves expense.

Thanks.
