Edward & Joseph Brueton - Gun Makers
« on: Saturday 14 March 15 22:43 GMT (UK) »
Quite complicated but here goes. The name Brueton is often mistranscribed

Joseph Brueton and Edward Brueton are small scale family business gun makers from central Birmingham. They also have a connection with London that I believe is to do with their trade. They are I believe probably related to T Brueton gunmaker mid to late 1700s
Joseph born about 1789 Darlaston, Staffs, he marries Phoebe (nee Perry m at Darlaston in 1809?)
Edward is born about 1787 Shoreditch, London ? , he marries Elizabeth Cooper at Handsworth in 1812
They both have families who are born in the Darlaston or Birmingham areas.
Joseph has a number of sons, one of them is also called Joseph b about 1815 (Darlaston) , who is also in the  gun making trade.
Edward also has sons, two in the gun making trade, William 1822 and George 1828.

The Joseph below in business directories and with Edward (1858) is either Joseph senior or Joseph junior, or a mixture of the two ?. I have the newspaper reports of the robberies of Turners Gun Manufacturers (government contracted) in 1857 and other court records/newspaper reports

Trade Directories Birmingham
1849 -Edward Brueton 19 Court ,Staniforth Street -gunsmith

1852 -Edward Brueton 19 Court, Staniforth Street - gun finisher
1855- Joseph Brueton 22 Balloon Street (near Moland st)- gun breech maker

1858 -Edward Brueton and Joseph Brueton both at 22 Sheep Street - gun finisher/gun breech maker

1862 -Joseph  Brueton - 2 Sheep street -gun and breech

This is an 1851 census that I think might be Edward
