Hi folks
Thank you so much, you have given me more information in the last hour than I've been able to find over the last 3 weeks!
I know for sure that Thomas Alfred Walker, born 1848, Netherton/Dudley, is the great grandfather of my husband and Thomas' "wife" Helen (nee Ashwin) are the parents of my husband's grandparents, Villiers Smyth & Veronique Walker. I also know that Thomas died in 1922 in Weymouth, Dorset and was on the medical register in 1878 and on the 1913 register at 16 Belvidere, Weymouth.
Veronique had 3 sisters, Edith, Muriel and Joan, so the 1881 census with just Helen, Edith & Muriel living in Hammersmith, London is correct.
I've also found them all, Thomas & Helen (Ellen) on the 1891 census living in Willesden, Middlesex with 3 daughters, and on 1901 & 1911 with Veronique as well. Last one living in Weymouth Dorset.
What a complicated life he has led, no wonder I was having problems finding him etc.  I will now look into the other leads you have given me and see what else I can find out.  Thank you.

I found this in the London Gazette:

"Late Mr William George Griffin Walker of Derby Hand, Netherton, Worcestor, Nail and Chain Manufacturer died 31 Oct 1881

Claims on his estate from Thomas Frederick Higgs, of Dudley in the county Worcester, Surgeon

and Henry Griffin Walker, also of Dudley" (A gentleman of 2 Vicar Street, Dudley in 1879 London Gazette)

https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/25071/page/618

Seems to indicate another generation and metions Netherton and Dudley as both being in Worcestor? Looking on a google map they are so close, they could be used interchangeably.

Also Thomas Alfred Walker's death 9 March 1922

https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/32705/page/3912
Wemyss/Crombie/Laing/Blyth (West Wemyss)
Givens/Normand (Dysart)
Clark/Lister (Dysart)
Wilkinson/Simson (Kettle or Kettlehill)

According to the tree , Sarah had 4 children to Thomas A  Walker.
There are the 3 with him in 1881 and here in 1901 , and Alfred J  with Sarah when she is with her father in 1881

This looks like Sarah in 1901. All names match the 1881 when the children are with Thomas.
1901 West Bromwich
Sarah Walker  widow  56 b Brierly Hill Staffs
Frances Walker  dau 24 b Sedgeley
Horace Walker son  21 b Sedgeley
Living next door is who  seems to be her son.
Ernest Walker 26 b Sedgeley
May Walker 21 wife
Dorothy dau 11 months.

In 1911 West Bromwich
Sarah Walker 65 widow " of private means" is living with her son Ernest.
Ernest  35 is now a widower, had been blind for 6 years and also has "private means"

These are children listed as born to Alfred and Helen.
Veronique 1893 -1975
Joan 1899 – 1891
Helen Ashwin 1884-1884
Muriel Maude 1883 – 1956

The probate  for Thomas A Walker  in 1922 was granted to a Frank George Bramble.D.S.O. R.N.
He married Edith Ruby Wilkins (Birth 9 Mar 1879  in  Rugeley Staffordshire   Death 10 Feb 1938 in  Brighton)
Edith Ruby was the daughter of Harry Wilkins master mariner and  Helen Ashwin Wilkins formerly Handley.
The informant was Edward T Handley , occupier of 10 High Holborn, Sedgeley. ( From the birth certificate )
Presumably a relative of Helen.

The tree on Ancs belongs to someone using the name  F J Bramble. There is an amazing amount of information, including some  wonderful photos. It would be worth joining Ancestry , even if for a short time to see what there is.

Hi,

William Griffin Walker Bpt 26th May 1799 St. Thomas Dudley Worc son of Robert & Elizabeth
Walker.

William Griffin Walker buried 17th June 1833 Dudley aged 35.

Just wonder if, because of the above, continued in the business?  1841 Henry is listed
as Nail Factor or was he working for himself?
