Margaret Cain or Kane was born in c.1839. Her parents were called Thomas and Margaret and they lived in Gateshead.

When did mother Margaret die.............her fathers name should be on her death cert. depending on who registered her death & whether the person knew her fathers name ???

Annie

No idea, I'm afraid. We, that is, myself and my cousin, have records for many of our family but not all. As for Thomas and Margaret we have none. I need to speak to my cousin but all I know is that they were both born around 1801. They came to England about in 1839. with 4 children. Margaret was born here however.

Hi William,

Has census records given any clues to where in Ireland they were both from  ???

Annie

No. :-( All census records for every branch of my family just say "Ireland". They were more than likely from Ulster however. Family lore has it that we came from Cookstown, Co. Tyrone but that may be a different branch. :-(

Can you tell me who Thomas' father was please ?

I have Cain/Kane with numerous spellings in my tree from Derry  :)

Annie

No. Thomas is as far back as we've got I'm afraid.

You need to search census records to establish when Thomas & Margaret disappear which will give you a time frame within 10 yrs to search for their deaths.

When did Margaret marry, who did she marry & did she have siblings  ???

If so............can you list them with born/circa dates please  ???
