ANDREW family from Crowland
« on: Friday 20 March 15 18:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Can anyone help me with this marriage.
I have all the censuses showing Thomas ANDREW married to Elizabeth. All living in Crowland and stating births in Crowland. Thomas would be born about 1799 and Elizabeth maybe 1806, but their first child seems to be Joseph baptised at Crowland in 1821, followed by 6 others, so a very young Mum. I can't find any marriage for them or Thomas' baptism (found one in 1798 but he died same year, another in 1806 which appears to be too late. Any help available?

many thanks
Heather

Thank you so much Diddy

I guess this is just an index, ie no ages shown?

Are the actual registers available anywhere, without a trip to Lincs??

Thanks

I would be careful in having Thomas 1799 as the Son of John/Sarah;

BAPTISMS;
Sts Mary Bartholomew and Guthlac, Crowland
Parents JOHN/SARAH Andrew
THOMAS Andrew, 07 June 1798, Buried 18 June 1798 (Son of John/Sarah)**
SARAH, 20 June 1799
ANN, 28 June 1801
THOMAS, 21 Sept 1806, Buried 27 Sept 1808 (Son of John/Sarah)**
MARY, 2 April 1809
(Source FreeeREG)

Also given Elizabeths age she may be a second Wife for Thomas.
He may have Married 2 Elizabeths (this happened in my line 4yrs apart)

I would get Ellens Birth Cert to establish Elizabeths maiden name if this was my Family Line.
She was Baptised as ELEANOR Andrew, 12 Dec 1840

Birth Reg;
Eleanor Andrew, Dec 1840, Peterbro, 15 331

Trish :)

Marriage of Thomas ANDREWS to Elizabeth WOOLEY is on FreeREG
Bachelor/Spinster
Witnesses, Alice WOOLEY/John HILL

FreeREG also has a Burial for a Elizabeth Andrews 16 Jan 1831 age 37

Now she may have died after having Twins in 1831.

Are these the Children you have Heather?
Baptisms;
ALICE, 9 Sept 1821, Birth 2 Sept 1821
JOSEPH, 9 Sept 1821, Birth 2 Sept 1821
THOMAS, 2 Jan 1824
JOHN, 4 Dec 1827
JANE, 24 Nov 1828
WILLIAM, 11 Jan 1831 (Twin), poss Buried 4 March 1831 (infant, under Andrews)
ANN, 11 Jan 1831 (Twin), poss Buried 14 May 1831 (Infant, under Andrews)

Others;
ELIZABETH, 14 Jan 1836, poss Buried 12 April 1841 age 5
ELEANOR, 12 Dec 1840
JAMES, 15 July 1843
ELIZABETH, 18 April 1848

Cant find William c 1838

So as I said earlier I would get Ellen/Eleanors Birth Cert.
To me it looks like Elizabeth Wooley (Andrews/Andrew) died 1831 after having the Twins and the Twins soon after.
Thomas would have remarried very soon after in my opinion to another Elizabeth.
Just my opinion

Thank you both for all the help.
Strangely I have used both Lincstothepast and freereg before but totally forgot about them!

I will sit and plough through everything I have now and try to piece it together. I know what you are saying Trish about the marrying of two Elizabeths, it did happen so often and would explain the youth of No 2 wife!

Thanks again
Heather
