Date Please for this portrait of a lady from the Garo Studios, Boston

I wonder if someone could date this portrait from the Garo Studios, Boston. I am thinking around 1903, as I found some newspaper lining the back, under wooden slats. The photo is signed with one name, but I cannot make it out.

Impossible to date as she appears to be swathed in what looks like a Kimono.
Her hairstyle is consistent with the date you suggest however.
Can we see the mount ?

It's funny. The main reason I bought the portrait was the fact that as I was looking at it in the shop where I bought it, I noticed that there was old newspaper behind the wooden slats on the back. I got home and took those slats off (it was obvious that it was never tampered with). I carefully removed about 6 pages of newspaper. As far as I can recollect, newspaper was the mount. I don't remember any other material.
I'm attaching a scan of the lower part of the portrait. Could this be card stock?
 It's pretty large, overall: approx. 10.5" x 13.75".
There is a penciled signature (can't make it out), an embossed insignia of some sort, and an embossed, "GARO STUDIOS BOSTON".
Can anybody make out the signature?

The scan might not be ideal, as the portrait is larger than my scanner bed. So I'm not sure full contact is being made.

I thought it looked like a graduation photo..she's lovely whoever she is.

From the little bit you've shown us indicates it's Edwardian & possibly up to WW1.

I'll try to get one edge scanned. As I said, it's too big for my scanner. I cropped it to look nice. Maybe this will show more. The rectangle border is an embossment.
