Donald Gary Reid born in Canada 1957

Can some one tell me why my dad was born in Canada in 1957.

Do not post any details about your father if he is still living.

Do you have official documents stating he was born Canada?  Do these give a Province?

Hi thanks
     My father is no longer with me and yes I do its on he's death certifled but all it tells me is Canada what I would like to know is what part.

As he has already died then it's okay to post his name and dates.

Without more info we are going to have trouble doing any research for you  ;D

All the info I have is he was born in Canada in 1957 and die in 1994 in Thanet Kent he's name is Donald Gary Reid I hope this helps.

Did he marry in England?  The marriage certificate should show the name and occupation of his father which might give some clues.

There is a tree on Ancestry which gives his mother as Kathleen Mary Reid (Woodland) 1919 - 1987,born and died in Ramsgate.

She seems to go to Canada in 1956 from an Inverness address,with 3 young boys and a girl.
Dad is not with them,maybe he went first to work there?

It sounds like your dad was born there,because his mother was there at the time  ;D

I wonder if this is them too?

In June 1939 a James 24  and a Kathleen M Reid 23 return to the UK from Trinidad ,where he is listed as a police officer.They give a postal address of Lloyds Bank Park Lane London.

Did you ever know your grandparents?

Following on from Kevin's marriage find the above is probably wrong  :-[
