In June 1939 a James 24  and a Kathleen M Reid 23 return to the UK from Trinidad ,where he is listed as a police officer. They give a postal address of Lloyds Bank Park Lane London.

Did you ever know your grandparents?

Following on from Kevin's marriage find the above is probably wrong  :-[

FreeBMD is showing 3 other children, born Thanet registration district, between 1943 and 1962.

I won't mention any names, as they could still be living.

I believe that at least 2 more were born in Scotland. As there were 4 with them when Kathleen travelled out to Canada in 1956.

These would all be your aunts and uncles Kempreid. Maybe they know why your grandparents travelled out to Canada.

My guess is that Grandparents moved to Canada for work opportunities.
Its a pity that your father's siblings will not give any information.
Do you know what Grandfather worked at on his return to England/Great Britain or was he retired at that time.

If you purchase their marriage cert for £9-25 from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ you will find out a little more about them.
