1841 shows him as 5 and 1851 as 15 so birthyear possibly 1835/36.  1841 shows Daniel & Susannah with a daughter Dorcas aged 25

I think this is him in 1841? Same names as the grandparents in 1851!
Class: HO107; Piece: 872; Book: 32; Folio: 6; Page: 7
Crawley, Witney, Oxfordshire

Ward, Daniel  M  54  Shoemaker
Ward, Susannah  F  54
Ward, Dorcas  F  25
Ward, William  M  5

So, maybe Dorcas was his mother?

i have checked all the census and yes that is my william, but no where does it say who his parents were.  I might have to try and get into the witney st marys births, or he might have been born in chadlington, since all the family previously came from there.  maybe st nicholas might have birth lists.  thanks to alll for any info you gave me,
