Hi,

I need a bit of help with my 9 times great grandfather birth record from 1687. Im a bit confused to what it means by W. Robert Kyle Writer to His maj (unknown); signet.

Could someone write out the whole passage without the abbreviations so I can understand it please

S.K. in the top right corner might mean something - the entry below is different.
A S N - "a son named" (cf A D N below)
W - probably Witnesses
Writer to His Ma[jes]ties Signet - Writer is the Scottish term for a Lawyer; The Society of Writers to His/Her Majesty's Signet is a professional body, possibly the elite of the profession?
