Is this him and his brother?
John Dell was charged with assaulting PC Soanes whilst in the execution of his duties. It appeared from the evidence that the prisoner endeavoured to give some beer to his brother, Henry Dell, who as a prisoner was being removed to gaol after having taken his trial before the Recorder at the City Sessions. The prisoner, Henry Dell was being conveyed to gaol in the custody of Police Constables Soanes and Halton, and his brother John Dell, procured a quart of beer and offered it his brother to drink; the police interfered and a scuffle ensue, in which the assault was committed. The magistrate fined the prisoner 5s and 8s costs, or seven days imprisonment with hard labour.
