Gilmores in Krudersdorp
« on: Wednesday 01 April 15 08:09 BST (UK) »
Hi all, looking for anyone who may be related to or have information about James Gilmore/ Gilmour who moved to South Africa (from Scotland, I believe) and died in Krudersdorp. The date of death I have is 6 June 1933. I also believe he had 2 daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. There may be other children. Any information at all or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Already tried familysearch and ancestry with no success. Kim

This appears to be his wife. Estate file is at Bloemfontein. Eggenoot means husband and her maiden name was Murdoch. I would say Gerguson is a typo and should be Ferguson.

Hi,thanks so much for responding. Is there any way to get this information (the full record) of each event including the estate file? Also, did you see anything on James himself? My understanding is that he was quite well off. Is there any way I can access records as I know generally that the records are unavailable. Anyting you can tell me is so appreciated. Kim

Hi, an addendum to my previous text. I have just discovered that the James Gilmour that died in June 1933 was the nephew of the James that I am seeking. His name is James Ballantyne Gilmour and he was probably out in South Africa wit his uncle as both his parents died when he was 13. So the James I seek died out in South Africa earlier probably about 1900. Kim

Hi, thank you again for responding. The grave of James Gilmour I do not think is mine as one James born about 1832 and the other was born 1874. But the listing of soldiers may just be one of them or a son. I have contacted eggsa about copies of some documents I saw outlines of online. Now, I wait to discover if any pertain to my family. Again thank you so much,Kim
