William Hall 1854/1855, Chudleigh, Devon
« on: Tuesday 07 April 15 10:27 BST (UK) »
Dear all,

I am seeking the parents of a William Hall who was born in Devon circa 1855. According to his Marriage Certificate in 1879 (Bermuda), William's father was a John Hall. In all the Census Records for William I can find, (he was in the Royal Artillery, signing up in 1873), the Census states he was from Exeter. I have found a Birth Certificate for a William Hall, July 1854 in Exeter, parents John Hall and Elizabeth Hutchings which I though must be the birth I was seeking. HOWEVER, in William Hall’s Military Records, it states he was from Chudleigh in Devon. Does anyone have access to the Chudleigh Parish Records to tell me whether there was a William Hall, father John, baptised in Chudleigh 1854-1856?

Thanks in advance

Keith

Does the Marriage Cert detail his Father's occupation ?

Hi

No, the Marriage Certificate is a Military Certificate issued in Bermuda in 1979 and simply states William's fathers name as John Hall.

Theres a couple of Candidates in the Newton Abbot area in 1861 - a Farmer & a Blacksmith.

In 1871, theres a Nephew of an Ager Family - William Hall, allegedly aged 15* ... born Chudleigh ...
