Nethercott Family Townsville Queensland.
« on: Friday 17 April 15 10:05 BST (UK) »
Hi I am looking for the more information on Charles George Nethercott.
I have search the Queensland BDM and have checked NSW for his birth.
I am guessing that he would have been born approx 1879.
I have his death is 1959 (but haven't obtained the certificate as yet) and his marriage in 1906 (which I do have the certificate) he lists his parents as James Nethercott and Mary Domar. I have checked the Queensland BMD for there marriage or deaths and come up with nothing.
I have also do regular searches on the Trove web page. This has given some details of Charles being a cordial manufacture, and also being a sp bookie at one stage.

I would like to find Charles' birth record and where his parents come from?
if anyone is able to help me break down this brick wall it would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to RootsChat

You mention you have the marriage certificate.  Can you let us know all the info  that the minister recorded on that cert, including where this marriage took place please.

Sometimes even the smallest piece of info from a certificate can help  :)

Cheers,  JM

Hi Thanks for your reply. :)
Have got out the certificate.
Charles Nethercott and Rosella Campbell were married in Charters towers Queensland 4th March 1905.
Silly me has just noticed that Charles listed his birth place as Port Augusta South Australia.
I don't think I have checked the south Australian BMD

Have now done a search on the South Australian BDM which has not yielded any matches to Charles or to possible deaths of his mother or father.

Have you tried the following link?

https://www.genealogysa.org.au/index.php?option=com_search&Itemid=32

I can see some possibilities for likely siblings…. For example around Frome… there’s several, but this one caught my eye.
Lillian Craddock Johnson NETHERCOTT, birth 1884 with parents as William Johnson and Louisa Nethercott (formerly) McLeod, Nee Domyer.
Earlier there’s in 1880, Margaret Ann Neathercote, dau of James Neathercote and Louise Domyre, again at Frome.

So possibly if James died and Charles mum re-married, and then Charles left when he grew up, he may not have known his mum's given name.   I know one of my aunties never knew her mum's given name.  She was always known as Dot or Mum or Mrs .....  and yet her given name was Felicity.
