Further to the last post I wish to change my opinion.  I assumed Charles was born in 1887 but now reckon he was born in 1880 based on perhaps an assault charge in Broken Hill as an 18 yr old and the fact his wife Rosanne was born on about 1878.

Yes still have not found birth record. Charles' mother seems to got around as they say.  So parentage on his fathers side is still very much up for discussion.

I have Charles and Rosetta's marriage certificate. According to the age he gives on this certificate he would have been born in 1879.

Coincidentally I have just been asked to research the family by a Nethercott.

Are you doing this research as a favour?  Perhaps the person could join RootsChat and we could help him/her personally:)

Many births were not registered in SA for all sorts of reason including distance from nearest local registrar, fines if not registered within a prescribed period, registered locally but returns did not reach the Adelaide Registry etc etc.  However saying that Louisa registered her other children's births.  It is possible that Charles George was born in the northern section of the Frome district and this was a very remote area in the era.  Perhaps his father was working on the Great Northern Railway which was built from Port Augusta to Quorn in 1879, with the line reaching Marree in 1883.

Registration districts Frome, Flinders etc covered very large areas in SA.

Thanks so much.  This now all adds up with a advertisement is 1884 in the South Australian chronicle looking  for James Nethercott having been last heard of in Queensland.

Did he do a runner ::)

Am currently researching the Nethercott family and the man I think you want was registered as:
NETHERCOLE George
Born: 1879-01-22
Parents: James NETHERCOLE and Louisa DAYMER
Born at Pinda in the District of Frome
V, 220/101
Having read your chats, this now explains why I couldn't find this George as he had a brother George Alfred born 1877. Pinda is near Wilmington and south of Port Augusta.
Louisa Rose DOMEYER was born 29 Dec 1855 in Port Lincoln Sth Aust and died on 5 Sept 1935 in Wilmington Sth Aust.
James 'did a runner' about 1880 and Louisa then had Lillian with William Johns(t)on - further information available in Trove, December 1884.
