Looks like the same lady might (quoted in the link below) may have an anc tree listing George William Harbord Postle born 20 Feb 1876 and the spouse listed as Lily Elizabeth Clement with no details.  ???

Charles Alfred Postle appears to marry Elizabeth Postle - St. Nicholas, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk in 1898. That must be Lily Elizabeth Clements/Postle

Edgar Ernest Postle married Bella Hendry - March 1897 - Sculcoates - 9d 213

Hello and good afternoon everyone, visitors gone (funny how everyone disappears when the wine bottles are empty & there is no beer in the fridge). I have struggled for the last four years with this Postle line, it is a direct descendant. My grandmothers dad was Ernest Edgar C  Postle & when I found someone else connected who had done so much research, thought that they knew the line.
The ladies web site is the same one that was quoted earlier, & to be fair did find differing names & entries to what I had already, but to be honest she has ticked a lot of boxes. The difficulty is that these Postles have been known by so many surnames over the years, ( Purcell, Porke,Postle) & they have through the census changed first names, for example I have Edgar Ernest C Postle then read records about Ernest Edgar C Postle , Same DOB
Son of George & Catherine, George William Harbord Postle bn 1876 Yarmouth, wed Elizabeth Lily(1st name reversed in records) Clements 1896, the couple had a son Ernest Charles Postle 1897, then Elizabeth wed George`s Brother 23/10/ 1898 Yarmouth Charles Alfred Harbord Postle. The George William Died in 1896/97, What a bloomin can of worms, think I will go & find the beers I hid earlier at least they are easier to find.
Thanks again to everyone for their help.
Cheers
John

There were several vessels with the name DANIEL around in 1897. It seems likely, the vessel your ancestor ( only the surname Postle is recorded) was lost from was DANIEL official number 67429 a dandy rigged fishing smack of 42 tons, built in 1873 and owned in 1897 by John H Mayston 55, South Quay Yarmouth. According to the record in BT334 he was swept overboard in the North Sea on 19/6/1897.
It would seem the crew agreements for 1897 have been lost or destroyed. Suffolk record office has them for 1898. It may be worth contacting them to see what they have.

Hi, just looked again at the notes I had made and read everyones posts, thanks everyone, with there being not one but two POSTLES on the vessel Danill , it looks like they both drowned in the gales, the record appears FindMyPast, Is it possible to find out who the other Postle is, I know about Ernest Postle bn 1874, the entry above his does not give a first name on FYP, I would like to think it was George William H Postle bn 1876.
Date of disaster at sea 19/6/1897 .
A big thank you again every one.

John
