But surely, our man was born 1759. And infantry, not artillery.

There are several William Morrisons born c1759. Presumably he married Elizabeth Hudson 17Mch1781.
Griffiths Llandogo, Mitcheltroy, Mon. and Whitchurch Here (Also Edwards),  18th C., Griffiths FoD 19th Century.

if he was age 22 in 1881 making his birth 1759 and in 1771 age 17 then he was born 1753 a 6 yr differens yes you are correct  ,, as for infantry and artillery i dont know ... yes he married elizabeth hudson
